Bioshock Infinite is a meh/10 right now for me

I just killed Lady Comstock's ghost, and I've ready been enjoying it. The story has been pretty decent thus far, the gameplay is solid, and even though it's been fairly linear, the areas are open enough that I don't really mind.

Illusion of choice is a major theme in the game, the linearity was a design choice and I think they did really well designing the game around that fact.

As for the ending, I didn't find it particularly mind blowing or hard to understand (aside from one little thing after the credits though I think it was intentionally left open to interpretation) but it did make the entire rest of the game just click, I really liked it, especially playing through it a second time. It also made the name make sense.

It doesn't live up to the hype, but I still think it's a fairly good game. The ending would make Gainax proud.

Bioshock did too many things wrong, gameplay wise, and not enough things right, story wise.

Here's a pretty goot critique.

This.

Gameplay kinda blows, and story is ok, but overrated.

I didn't find the game that great either. The gameplay restrictions seemed obvious to me from what they promised.

The story is stapled together trash that was cobbled together 6 months before release.

The people who praise it are pseudo-intellectual pretentious hipsters who just want to feel smart.

If you use "pseudo-intellectual" and "pretentious" in the same sentence, you just might be pretentious yourself.

Quite superfluous verbiage there, good sir.

The combat was nothing special. Having to unload 3-4 headshots to kill some dude with no armor was a turn off.

The game was certainly lacking the fun that was in the first two. Infinite did have great art and audio design, I cannot fault that at all. However the fact they stripped it to complete bare bones really took the fun out of it.

The game just felt like Call of Duty with an interesting style. Nothing great at all.

I'm actually trying to trudge my way through the first Bioshock, and find it extremely dull...

I actually found it refreshing - the interesting powers and abilities you could pursue and the relatively limited ammunition added a realism and tension to every encounter, and the enemies really seemed crazy and unpredictable (and I always felt kind of bad for shooting them, but I suppose you were putting them out of their adam-crazed misery) - you had to make every shot count. I thought the whole "Atlas Shrugged" overtone was a bit overwrought, but the story was fairly compelling and I enjoyed the Art Deco style of the city.
