Long and short: My XBox controller died a horrible death due to unattended puppy. So did the wireless adapter I had for my PC. Instead of replacing that all together, what's a solid bluetooth adapter for a PS3 controller on PC?
Thanks in advance.

you're better using it wired. some people get it to work, some can't. even using the same adapter. --- Insert generic offensive/slightly racist/holier than thou/fanboy/douchebag/elitist comment here.

Use this, not MotionInJoy: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-XInput-Wrapper-for-DS3-and-Play-com-USB-Dual-DS2-Controller
And buy almost any bluetooth adapter, it should work fine. I own this one because I got it on sale, and besides the godawful bright LED, it's served me well:
