Might want to keep in mind Japanese made RPG and Japanese RPG mean totally different things next time.

How does that make any sense?

I though JRPG was RPGs made by Japanese.

I don't know if you're playing dumb, but I do know some lurkers might just be

So you know how, by definition, PCs are "consoles" yet in the gaming community you're a f***ing idiot if you don't understand the difference between "PC" and "console" in a discussion?

It's kind of like that. JRPG and WRPG, through context and s***, are implied to mean the traditional game design coming out of those regions. In recent times they've lost geographical significance due to global homogenization and consolisation or other similar buzzwords, but they still mean "classic game design of that particular region" over "current development HQ location."

Dark Souls is an Action RPG, not a JRPG.

Also the Penny Arcade games are JRPGs.

Unless you mean Japanese MADE RPGs which is completely different from a JRPG.

What you're thinking of is "JRPG", not Japanese RPG.

The OP clearly said "Japanese RPG", not "JRPG".

Which isn't actually a style, sorry to say. Japanese and Western RPGs need to stop being labelled as styles because they're not. It's just silly to think that

Except they pretty clearly are.

Hey guys, instead of answering the question in the topic, how about we argue semantics for a few more pages?

The Winter Sale should be a sure thing. It was cut pretty deep during the Summer sale.

Because it's right, JRPG's do not all come from Japan, get a reality check and stop thinking they do. I repeat, to think they must be made in Japan is as massively stupid as thinking Chinese food MUST be made in China to count.

Right, he didn't say JRPG, he just said what the J in JRPG stands for followed by RPG. That totally isn't unclear about what he meant. Totally. Yup, no chance that it could be misunderstood. Yup.

They are, learn what a genre is, learn what a style is, and than either admit you are completely wrong or shut the hell up. Now listen buddy, I'm sorry the idea of 2 styles of RPG's being identified by the regions that popularized them is so hard for you to understand, but you need to accept that you are wrong and they DO refer to a style.

lol

JRPG=Japanese Role playing game=Japanese RPG

Granted there is a distinction between the original sense (Japanese RPG) and the modern sense (rpg made inthe style of JRPG's

But to say a Japanese RPG=!JRPG is ridiculous.
