Steambox 1080p 60FPS or 1600p 30FPS?

Did you even read the pages on the Steambox/SteamOS?

It doesn't use resolutions. It is that revolutionary.

They have to keep it affordable. They really are competing with consoles more than a normal PC, so the $500 range is what I'd expect. At that price, I don't expect more than 1080p@ 30pfs. Maybe 720p@60fps, or even 720p@30fps. It is a PC afterall and games aren't optimized for that one specific hardware setup...yet.

Isn't it going to be on different hardware? So it depends I guess.

I'm more a fan of 2560x1600 60 FPS.

I take it you are also a fan of spending thousand's of dollars on gaming hardware.

If it's 1080p, I don't see it struggling at 60fps, especially if you turn down a setting or two. Also, judging by what they're saying, we would be able to swap parts, making it more powerful later on.

If 1080 isn't enough for you then quit. I played games on a 1980s TV so just quit. It's not that important.

"So I take it people spend money on stuff."

Regardless of whatever your point is with that, it doesn't require thousands to get a 2560x1600 (or 1440) monitor or a system to run games at that res. If you build your own or get a good sale, nowadays you can spend roughly $1000-1200. Not really thousands.
