Team Fortress 2 worth playing? Graphics look horrific

Is this game supposed to be played in a team with communication? I just want to go around and shoot stuff and do what I think I need to do to win. I can play in a team, but I don't want teamspeak or something to be major part of the game.

Few teamspeak, at the casual level anyway.
Each class has it's "roles" and if you stick loosely to that you're doing most of the teamwork. As long as your having fun it doesn't matter. TF2 community is fairly laid back, for the most part.

You won't play a game because the graphics look "kiddy" aka cell shaded? Oh so you're one of those type of gamers...

Aye, thanks for the advice. Guess I'll go download this so I can have some fun with online play in a game until I can buy Left 4 Dead 2.
Read the mania:
In SA2, it's Super Sonic and Hyper Shadow.

Graphics look nice and have held up incredibly well given the age of the game. By the same time frame comparison just compare TF1 to games released 5-8 years later.

It's supposed to look cartoonish.

This, also it's quite easy to check the download size yourself - it informs you of that when you go to download it in Steam. If the game looks "horrific" to you, then you must have just started playing games the other day, there are far worse looking games (on a technical level).
