I need help! I want to build a htpc gaming unit. Advice, opinions.

My goal- I want a gaming PC that is hooked up to my TV and can play my steam library.

* I'm thinking at least a 670 or 680 ( nvidia so I can stream to my shield)
* haswell CPU
* 8 or 16gb ram?
* ssd 256 & HDD 1 tb
* blue ray
* small as possible case
* not too loud
* it will run windows 7 and maybe steamos in future

My budget 1000-1500

Is it possible to build a htpc small with a high end GPU and CPU?
What type of case?

I'd go with something like the BitFenix Prodigy. I'll post a build in a bit.

I'm hoping for a small case, like maybe the silver stone lite

You can go cheaper, if you aren't overclocking. You can also cut costs by getting a cheaper GPU. The case you selected has clearance for up to a 10" GPU.

Wow I watched linus tech tip video of the bitfenix! Looks great. A tad big, but I could make it a gaming beast.

That's what I suggested for someone else in another topic. You can also substitute a 7950 or 7970 (really, almost any other GPU) if you'd like.

If you have any sort of gaming system at all it will be fin as an HTPC. Hell even a 400$ prebuilt would work fine as an HTPC.

That looks great but I would like to upgrade to a bluray, either go 770 or 680, and I need windows.
I might want a 250 SSd! The 120 fills up so fast.

Also is 8 GB ram enough?
