I spilled beer in my computer......

#1Blackest49Posted 9/29/2013 2:57:07 PM
I was doing a little drinking about a month ago and accidentally spilled a *tiny* bit of beer inside of my computer case. Now it doesn't work.

The side of the case was off... At first pressing the power button on the front resulted in ZERO response-- nothing would happen at all. Now when I press it, the PSU kicks on and everything lights up as it should. All the fans kick on. It seems to be working perfectly but the monitor is unresponsive and just reads black.

It was just a small amount of liquid. I have a SSD so I don't know how bad that could be damaged. I know whatever is damaged is ruined and will need to be replaced but I don't even know where to start. Does anyone have an ideas?

look for signs of condensation or water damage. Other than that, pray you got the right part.

If your CPU/motherboard has onboard video, remove your video card, connect your monitor to your motherboard and start there.
If you have more than one stick of RAM, only install one at a time. It's probably not your RAM though.
