Know nothing about computers but just want something quicker than my laptop and could possibly play a few games.

That videocard is a workstation card, and an old one at that. It's not going to perform very well in games at all.

The Xeon 5140 is basically an old Core 2 Duo, so just assume you have a Core 2 Duo.
That Quadro FX3450 is quite useless though. It's similar to a GeForce 6800.

Anything can run a game given it's fast enough. But when was the last time you saw anyone here say they bought a new Xeon for their gaming rig?

That's not what I'm saying. There's this misconception floating around that Xeons can't run games because, like you said, they're "meant for servers" (and workstations). While that is true, they really are just slightly modified consumer CPUs, they don't have any under-the-hood "magic" that makes them not work with games. I don't know if you thought that or not, but since you said they're meant for servers, I wanted to point that out.
