Is the MX518 still the ultimate gaming mouse?

If I want a superb gaming mouse should I go with this old school original or has it been surpassed?

Its successor, the G400, is better. Not the "ultimate" mouse though because shape is highly important and not everyone will like the G400/MX518 shape.

G500

-heavy
-sensor off-center
-weird weight distribution
-terrible consumer mouse scroll wheel
-Avago ADNS 9500 laser sensor with hardware acceleration
-Gimmicky "Add weight [to your heavy mouse] feature

You are better off with a G400s. Cheaper too.
