Battlefield 2 or Battlefield 2142?

We need more games like 2142 because I'm tired of modern warfare stuff.

Titan Mode in 2142 is still one of the funnest online modes I've ever played.

The correct answer is planetside 2. Or Vietnam.

Planetside 2 is like Battlefield with virtually everything good about Battlefield removed. No win conditions just ruins the game entirely, even if the performance didn't suck big floppy donkey members.

Vietnam... that was actually an interesting game, but the parts that make it interesting, the asymetric warfare elements, are also it's biggest weakness.

2142 had the best concepts, BUT technically it was a mess. There were a lot of times where the game was near unplayable (especially on Titan mode) just because of the absolutely wretched lag and hit-detection. That said it was still the most fun I've had from a BF game outside of modded 1942. I'd like to see it done right on Frostbite 3.

Get the feeling the closest you'll get to that is the new Battlefront. Titan with star destroyers perhaps

I'm not a big fan of Star Wars :(

I loved the aesthetic of 2142 though. The art and designs were amazing. It's a shame there aren't very many games that have unique near-future settings.

2142 was a much more refined game. BF2 was all over the place. The maps were overly large, directionless, and vehicle dominated. 2142 had better battle flow and actually allowed for infantry to be relevant.

2142 was and still is the best Battlefield ever released.

I predict it will be for quite some time too.

I wouldn't go that far. BC2 takes the cake for me.
