I'm not talking about what is advertised, but what you actually get when you run a speed test. Anyone have any idea what average would be?

That depends totally on your ISP and the package you choose. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3005492152

I changed to dsl and I'm getting .3 up. I'm thinking that's gonna be a problem for online gaming.

I went to battlog and filtered BF3 servers by North America and 1-10 open slots (not empty or full) and I only get a couple dozen servers under 80 ping,

A lot of multiplayer games run fine even on dial-up. Stop worrying about nothing.

.3 up is fine for playing online. Common home speeds would realistically be like 1-5, maybe 10 at the outside. Usually, as a consumer, you don't need nearly as much upload speed as you do download speed.
