I already got Malwarebytes and Spybot but I dunno what else to get

Windows Defender is really all you will need. Some people like avast, but I like how non-invasive defender is.

I've been happy with MS Security Essentials. It has the standard features and actively keeping you protected from threats, scheduled updates/scans. I used to have AVG but it got so annoying with it confusing a bunch of Steam files as high risk threats. The MS one doesn't get that bothersome.

Should I couple Windows Defender with Malwarebytes, or is Windows Defender good enough solo?

I'd prefer to not have to install anything else.

Windows Defender is good enough. It's an antivirus (the Windows 8 version of Windows Defender only), and that's the minimum everyone should have.
