Even better than Windows 7 because of DX11.1.

linustechtips did some tests on youtube, showed win 8 has better minimum fps in several games compared to win 7.

same test rigs were used, etc.

That has yet to be seen :P Maybe 11.1 will blow up our machines. I mean its windows 8 only right, can't be a good thing.

Don't know how accurate this is, but apparently it's making quite a significant difference in Battlefield 4.

This seems to be the consensus. But it does not seem enough for me to upgrade. Only if we see really worthwhile differences due to this would I consider an upgrade.

My girlfriend has windows 8 on her laptop and I am not a fan when it comes to the basic stock interface. Though I guess that is all just superficial and can be dealt with. But once you strip that away, the OS is too similar to windows 7 for me to even care. Except for a few features, like Direct x 11.1.

It's good.
Windows 8 starts up substantially faster (like... power button to completely logged in under 10 seconds with a spiny hard drive and 7 with a SDD) than Windows 7... I prefer this so I don't have to keep my computer on 24/7 for some impromptu gaming.

If you are unsure, you can try Windows 8.1 that's what I did. I like 8.1, it isn't bad.

You can buy a $500 console and a $500 computer and have two crap machines, or you can spend $1000 building your own computer and have the best of both worlds.

Windows 8 feels more stable, boots faster and seems to manage memory better than Windows 7. I don't have solid facts though, as I've been using Windows 8 for a week only.

Some newer games are running better, but that may be because my Win 8 installation is new, while my Windows 7 one was 2 years old (and became quite a bloat).

A game that ran quite sucky in W7, but is running surprisingly well now is Saints Row 2 (in fact, its the main reason I decided to get Windows 7). In Seven, It was lagging too much (almost unplayable), and had a bug that made the game run at 150% speed. Now its almost perfect in 8 (then again, that port is a minefield of bugs...).

Unfortunatelly, the interface sucks. I'll have to install the classic interface thingy, cause I can't get used with Win8's one.
