To those who are getting R9 290X, what do you have now? What are your reasons?

I have a 7950 contemplating getting a R9 290X or getting another 7950, which would be a lot cheaper.

What are you reasons for getting the R9 290X? How much of an improvement will it be over your card now?

I can imagine that those with AMD cards who are getting it are doing so because they don't want to deal with possible Crossfire issues, which are even more prevalent in Eyefinity setups. Maybe even Nvidia users that are wary of SLI.

Sorta off-topic: If the benchmarks are true, and it's $700, I expect to see either a drop in sales or prices of 780s and Titans. Probably the latter.

I currently have a 7970. I'm upgrading to a 290x Because I want the best possible Bang for my buck that will hold me over for the duration of this console generation. Also I planned on running a dual card setup. This card seems like the card for me.

Oh, you thought they made this game for you? You clearly bought the wrong game.

I'd wait, price drop probably within 2 months of its release.

7970 had a price drop soon after, 7990 had a price drop soon after..

Nvidia working on the 770ti, which is around 5% of a 780 and for around $450

So yeah, expect AMD to drop the prices soon of the R9, the 7950 is good enough to hold out a couple more months

I sold my 780 to some guy and made $100... so I'm looking for another card.

Rockin' that Intel HD 4600 right now like a peasant.

Waiting for full benchmarks from mulitple sites and Crossfire bench reports before even considering the R9. Need the first round of people to guinea pig test for a few months before my hard earned money is spent. Never understood people that just buy day 1 before any reports are out, but I'm sure glad they do as it saves me a lot of hassle.

How was 780?

Built a computer (sans gpu) this summer, Was waiting for Hawaii to drop... and it seems a bit too expensive at $700 price tag.

Just got a 15% off coupon for Evga cards, and I can potentially get a 780 for around $560. Not sure if it's worth the money as compared to the cheaper 280x (7970ghz rebrand) or 770, though.

280x seems the way to go but with 15% off on EVGA you may want to pick up a 770.

$400 - 15% = $340 for the 770

or $450 - 15% = $382.5 for the 770 4GB

280x which is about even with a 770 for $300-$330. Up to you really but Nvdia is a bit better all things considered
