I know it's not the best to alot of people, and i havn't played many... But Alan Wake to me, is the best. Why? Pure pure atmosphere. The dark woods, creepy wind/fog that comes in when the taken are nearby, hearing cars crash, helicopters fall, watching a dark cloud engulf everything. Its just so good <3
Play this game in the dark, alone with surround sound and you will are guaranteed to feel at least somewhat, uneasy. To me, that is what makes a game "truly" scary. The atmosphere and ambiance is just incredible. Combined with a First Person view, it makes for a terrifying experience.
P.S. - Lol at Dead Space. Great game but not scary at all. As soon as I realized I could stomp enemies like street thug on steroids I felt invincible.
Easy mode is never scary. Anyways, dead space 2 & 3 took a action direction and prepared us for the same old necromorphs over and over, so the playerbase forgot the fear of the first game and became overly familiar with the enemies. But upon release, imo it had one of the scariest atmospheres in a game. Not knowing what was on that ship, the eerie sound, and the crazy mutilated remaining crew. I'll never forget that moment when you get off the elevator and the man runs across the hall,
Don't try to mess with me, kiddo. You won't fool anyone here. :\
Seriously, I have no idea what you're talking about. Since I mentioned it was from Korea, I'm guessing Lotus is some kind of band or TV show from there. If so, I'm still not sure what you're after, or why the game would be related.
I only found White Day when I saw a post about little known horror games. It's a pain to find and install, too.
More important to the discussion, it's pretty interesting to try and gives some interesting scares. Games like Penumbra and Amnesia would refine the formula later on.
