HP Update seems to be crashing...?

#1Davidk92Posted 10/5/2013 7:48:56 AM
A family member's laptop seems to be doing an automatic "HP Update" whenever he switches it on. But when it does, it just freezes. He can't close the window, minimize it, or cancel the update, and the progress bar doesn't move or fill in or anything.

I thought the Update program behind it had crashed, but upon googling the problem it seems that if it had crashed it would bring up a message saying so.

He can still access the internet and his programs, it seems, but the HP Update window stays there the whole time, and it sometimes blocks his view and sometimes doesn't.

Any help?

Terminate the process through Task Manager and just uninstall the program. You can always reinstall it if you care to have it.
