Is this a good setup for 2014?

Acer H226HQL as my main monitor, Acer H213H as my second. I do believe 1080p is native on both monitors.

I'm actually kind of debating whether I should just stick with my current CPU and get a 7950 (selling my 7850) or get the FX6300 and use the 7850. I just bought the 7850 but since I'm not considering getting the PS4 or Xbox One any longer, I want to make sure I can get the best out of my PC compared to those consoles, for a tight budget though.

If 1080p is native on your monitor then stop playing in 720p. Any extra framerates you gain are not worth the diminished picture quality you receive from your monitor having to upscale the image.

It really doesn't look all that bad though. I'm actually getting I think around 40-50 FPS, at some points with no action 60+. But at 1080p the framerate drops a whole lot, like 20 or below. Will a FX6300 help up the frame rate at max settings at 1080p with my current video card, or do I need at least a 7950?

Your CPU is fine. It's better than my i7 930 and I'm rocking a GTX 770. Your CPU should last you another 3 years if you stay at 1080p and OC it.

This gaming at 720p is what concerns me. Seriously, upgrade you GPU and play games at your monitor's naive resolution. Only when you want to completely max the most demanding games should you ever consider lowering the resolution.

Your title contains the year 2014 for Christ's sake.
