friend having problem with external hdd not spinning

#1SnipeStarPosted 10/6/2013 7:26:27 AM
so he has a wd passport, and he said the platter inside has stopped spinning. he wants to know what he can do about it.

he has looked online at youtube and such about fixing hardrives- and there are videos there about how to take them apart- but he said there are no screws for disassembly; everything is welded to the pcb or whatever.

he was wondering what options he has regarding retrieving his data on it before he tosses the drive

take it as a life lesson that hard drives will fail sooner or later, and so you got to back up that data.
