why are the amd cpu's able to reach higher cpu clock rates than intels?

If you watch world record's for highest clocked cpu, they are mostly AMD, why? I know Intel is better in real world performance, but does AMD cpu's just clock higher?

Because they have better drivers.

more like amd needs it.

Intel is vastly superior clock per clock.

my 3570k @ 5ghz is easily more powerful than any amd processor.

for example to match my 3570k in raw single threaded performance u would need a 8350 that can OC to 6.0+ ghz.

amd's Big Clockrate is just to Show off and to try and match intels performance.

people think more GHZ the better.

its not like that at all. lol

What about multi threaded performance? Put your i5 3570k at 5 ghz against an amd at 5 ghz in multithreaded

If the programs someone uses can take advantage of 8 threads, then the 8350 would beat the 3570K. Thus, that person would want to get an 8350. What are you getting at?

This ain't 2005, noone thinks that higher ghz is better. And let's not forget Intel was the biggest perpetrator of that marketing scheme. 3.0ghz Pentium 4? Uhuh.

I get the feeling this is a stealthed brag thread. "Look at me! I'm overclocked to 5ghz!!"

Gigahertz race hasn't mattered since P4 C2Ds performed better than Phenoms/Athlons, and still do.

And lolbulldozer still relevant here.
