Stop. Think.

Youtube IS the largest video service on the planet. Do you have ANY idea what kind of infrastructure needs to exist to let us watch any video on demand and seek within seconds?

It's incredible it runs as good as it does.

doesn't explain why it worked almost flawlessly a couple of years ago before they kept rolling in the idiotic changes though.

I rarely ever have issues with Youtube, but I only use it to listen to music.

What is wrong with the player itself?

Protip:

Open VLC, go to "Open Network Stream" and paste in a youtube video URL. Voila, almost seamless seeking and no buffering issues.

It works fine for me.

For some reason when I had AT&T as an ISP it never worked right. Videos would just stop buffering.

So you have never or seen these issues?

1. video re downloads on full screen
2. videos re downloads itself when you try to go to a certain point in a video
3. Video freezes at a point but the audio keeps going

Only #2 but it loads fast enough that it doesn't matter.

I have been having freezing issues lately actually. Like, the video freezes, and the audio skips back a few seconds and keeps playing, and the video resumes once the audio catches up. It's annoying.

YouTube went to crap after Google bought it. Which seems to be the standard for Google products.

The stupid thing is that it actually worked just fine until Google bought it. I don't think they suddenly saw a gigantic jump in viewers - Google actually changed *how* it works.

The bottom line is you can blame it on your ISP, your content provider, or both. The problem is almost never technical in nature - it's children running the companies disagreeing over the details, and us customers getting caught in the fallout.

Rarely have issues with it myself. In fact, it runs/works flawlessly for me.
