My computer is finally showing its age.

You could probably get by with a CPU+Mobo+RAM upgrade, for the moment.

Is your motherboard AM3+ compatible and also have DDR3 support?

I have to go out really quick. I'll be back in a little while to get back to you, because I don't know off the top of my head.

How can you run Far Cry 3 on Ultra but not be able to run the newest game or have to run them on minimum? Makes 0 sense.

I don't know. As far as I can tell, my computer would barely be able to run Watch Dogs and according to that "Can I Run It" site, I'm barely above minimum for FFXIV.

That site is lying to you. I have a friend running it on his laptop with hd4000. The game is easy to run for the most part. The cities can be a bit rough though.

Okay, I looked it up and I believe it is.

It's a Micro-Star International MS-7596.

Post your budget and I put a list together for you. I would recommend you have it around $800-1000.

That's more than my entire computer+monitor cost me.

>.<

I'm just looking upgrade a part now, maybe another in a few months, etc. Maybe $300 or so.

Your computer is at the point where an upgrade is a waste of money.

Really? It's that bad? I'm still running semi-new games like Far Cry 3 on ultra and older games like Skyrim and Dark Souls modded out the ass (not at a constant 60 fps, but good enough).

Well, we're guessing you have an AM3 mobo, so that means you're limited to only phenom IIs for CPU. Phenom IIs are better than your athlon, but still dated. In CPU heavy games like BF4 and Planetside 2, it will still chug. You need a new mobo, which means you need a whole new build.

You can reuse your RAM if you're on DDR3, but you'll definitely want to pick up 4 more GB.

GPU can hold for now, but it is also worth an upgrade if you can afford it.

So yeah, to avoid wasting money, you need a whole new build.

It's not a super bad build, it's just old and has few worthwhile upgrade options.
