Whatever you do, don't order from Lenovo directly. Their shipping times are awful. --- If AMD goes down Intel might safely release i9 for $300 and i7 for $200 and i5 for $100 and i3 for free. - su27Chaos<

you should be able to get a y510p with an i7 and sli 750m for around $1000
My only concern is that SLI Y510p has Optimus (yes, 3 GPUs in that laptop) and Linux still can't do it somewhat properly without bleeding edge kernels and drivers. Windows may not detect the Intel GPU unless you do some tricks, but Linux readily will and use it as the primary device.
The Y500 didn't have Optimus yet both machines can't use their 2nd GPU in Linux. I do most of my gaming on Windows, yet all these caveats would drive me nuts.
This is why I'm so nervous to even bother with Steam OS around the corner. I should just wait for a good deal on a GTX laptop, but then again, those have Optimus now too.
Intel should just buy Nvidia and be done with it. It would solve the Optimus problem for good. --- #otchat ~ https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.rizon.net/otchat Mods/Gods 2013

optimus doesn't work with sli
and the second card comes through lenovo's ultrabay thing which can be popped out and swapped for a bluray player or nothing --- http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/2996/cancerstorm.jpg
