Basically if it's not patched out, the game you paid for is permanently unplayable unless you crack it.

No. Just the GFWL features are not available because you're unable to login. Creating an offline profile has always been available and usually recommended to people. Noob.

Ok then if you buy the GFWL game on steam you'll still be able to play then. Ok then why does the GFWL need to be patch out then ?

Some games use GFWL as their DRM measure so without GFWL you can't activate the game during the initial installation. Also offline save files are incompatible with saves made on an online account.

You need to connect to the GFWL server to install. So if it's not currently installed, you can never install it, effectively killing the game. Planned obsolescence is what publishers want though, so I'm not surprised.

Also, noob? Are you 12?

Don't be a douche, I don't care about my grammar on GF. Thanks anyway, I've been away for a long while.

From my understanding, if GFWL doesn't get patched out, you'll be fine as long as you already have the game installed, you just won't be able to reinstall it, or something.

I just tested this with Dark Souls, Gears of War, BlazBlue, flatout ultimate carnage and red faction and I had my internet disconnected. I installed them just fine and I could play in offline mode no problem. So a lot of this information is utter rubbish.
