What ultrabook are you referring to?
And it's a waste because it's so limiting. It's a tablet. That kind of money can buy a real nice quality labtop. Yeah, it'll be a tad heavy, but if that's such a big deal, just get a $800 ultrabook and a Nexus 7 or somesuch.

Don't get office. There are plenty of free alternatives that are much better that are compatible with Office.

Such as Word Perfect.

honestly i like office and its free anyways.

Yeah, but seriously, a 1k tablet is simply a waste of money.

Why is it a waste?
Still less expensive than an ultrabook and i have plenty of use for it.

Because you're basically paying $1000 for a very crappy computer just because of its tablet form factor.
You could buy a laptop for $700 that would crap all over it. Man up and carry around 2 extra pounds.

Surface Pro/Surface Pro 2 doesn't come with MS Office.

It's not crappy. Not many other options with the same specs and price point. Full Windows, 1080p, pen digitizer, front and rear facing cameras, 2 lbs, 7 hours battery life, etc etc etc.

Edit: Also, the 4GB model is fine for running Photoshop. Just get that and save some money, unless you really need the added space.

Hmm. Maybe I'm being dumb about this - can't the Surface only run apps?

The Surface/Surface 2 only runs apps from the Windows Store. Surface Pro/Surface Pro 2 are basically full fledged PC's in a Tablet form factor.

Edit: @TC, for your usage, you may possibly see benefits from 8GB RAM during gaming and Photoshop, but not $300 worth of improvement, IMO.

console gamer so good on gaming.
Googled the effects of ram on photoshop and unless it was 16gb ram the difference in preformance isnt much.

Thanks gastaman ive settled on 4gb of ram.
