Ubuntu 13.04 on old laptop

Hello, so I got a really cheap laptop so I can actually do Java at school and not only at home, and it only has a dual core microprocessor that runs at 1.7ghz and 1gb of ram. Do you think ubuntu will run fine on it?

It might be better to try Lubuntu, that's a lighter version of Ubuntu

Hmm, well for now I have a copy coming in so I will dualboot it with sh** win8 on my desktop and try it on the laptop, if its no good ill go for lubuntu.

the laptop is a lg lw40 express btw
