firefox has met violation by watchdog error

#1FaultBoyPosted 10/8/2013 3:33:31 PM
Computer crashed after opening 2 gamefaqs tabs in firefox. A screen says "firefox has met violation by WATCHDOG and will be terminated" (not a joke) then bluescreened and had to manually reset. This has never happened before and i have used firefox for years. My antivirus is avast (and sucks) also use malwarebytes but neither found anything.

What happened?. Firefox bug or gamefaqs bug?. Is anyone experiencing this?

(BTW gfaqs spellcheck tells me gamefaqs is misspelled and shoud be replaced by "game****s")

firefox has met violation by WATCHDOG

I googled the error and came up with this.

http://www.reviversoft.com/blog/2012/11/a-guide-to-blue-screens-of-death-dpc-watchdog-violation/

Basically, all they said was that a watchdog error was usually related to windows 8 and SSD's, but that if you didn't have an SSD you should just update every driver you have... I have no idea if you're using an SSD or not, and if you've used it for a long time and this just NOW happened, I can't see why they'd want you to update drivers now.

Another guy says that his watchdog errors went away after updating his video drivers, so maybe that's got something to do with it.

Either way, if you give more details about the problem you're more likely to get help. I have no clue if anything I just typed is helpful to you or not. Good luck either way.

(BTW gfaqs spellcheck tells me

LOL gamefaqs spellcheck...
