I know nothing about building a PC, but here's my build

There is nothing future proof on that build. My 6670 is better than that graphics card.

4x1GB sticks of RAM? are you intentionally trying to screw yourself down the road when you NEED to upgrade to more?

Here's a far better build, and much cheaper to boot:

Just add Windows if you need it.

For the love of a non-existent deity, TC. Go with ^^^ this build or something similar, I wouldn't use your posted build to surf the internet.

and also the sound card isnt needed....on board audio is pretty good and the card isnt much of an upgrade

That's kind of subjective. There's a noticeable difference with even a $30 sound card and standard Realtek drivers. My headphones don't have high impedance but they sound a lot better with the amp in my sound card, not distorting at the loudest volume levels.

Some of you guys are jerks. He says he doesn't know anything about building a PC. Give him credit for trying, and give some people here the benefit of the doubt when they say something! Not everyone is a "troll" here.

You can buy a pre-built Alienware x51 for that cost...
And even that's a substantially better system than what you've got up there.

I would go with this. No offense to Shub, but I would get a HD 7870 for just a bit more money. Better performance and some free games!

And maybe switch to this power supply, too:

Just for cleanliness in the case and the bigger discount.

Hold up my friend. I upgraded to a 7950 and a cheaper but still good power supply and ended up getting the total a little cheaper.
