This doesn't happen to people who buy boxed games. We almost never get sales. So chill out and get a job hippie.

I have a job, I just have something called bills, I cant just blow all my money on games because Im not a highschool kid who can use all his money on pleasure

Sounds like you just need a better job :-\

I guarantee that 80% of this board is older than you.

^Yeah the game is like 50% better with the DLC. I guess sometimes console game sales are better then steam sales. I was lucky to get it for free.

Put the game you want on your wishlist and keep an eye on your email. Steam will email you when the game you want goes on sale.

As a side-effect, if you have generous friends, they can also see you want the game and maybe buy it for you.

Another possibility (for the truly hardcore steam addict) would be to have steam tweets forwarded to your phone in the form of texts, so that the minute it goes on sale you're notified.

Not always, I've had games on my wishlist go on sale and Steam never sent me an e-mail - conversely, other times they have. It's hit or miss (at least for me).

It's hit or miss

I don't read my email every day so I tend to miss a lot (and I sometimes worry the automated emails might wind up in the spam folder too)... I actually use the steam tweets forwarded to my phone method.

Sometimes it's a bit annoying when they update like 5 things in a row, but at least I'm aware of every sale.

I usually only buy games after making sure I like them and after longing for them a lot. But if you're used to wait 6 months to 2 years to buy a game, like me. That's nothing.

L4D2 goes on sale so frequently.

Try be me and not buy Skyrim because I'm waiting for GotY.
Then hold until the game gets a -66%.
Then just don't buy it anymore because, when I think rationally, Skyrim isn't even that fun because the game mechanics are simplified, and the world is likely recycled a lot like Oblvion was: like many people have admited after all the initial excitement impressions.

And even like this I have a small backlog.

I still enjoyed Skyrim enough to put almost 250 hours into it.. and that's without extensive modding and no DLC. I guess it varies per person. Usually by the time they've released the DLC I'm bored of the game though.

if you add the game to your steam wishlist they'll send you an e-mail to let you know it's on sale

I use the wish list too, but I also notice that they don't always send an email when a game goes on sale. It is definitely hit or miss.
