Do you think the Nvidia Geforce 880 GTX will be faster than the Radeon R9 290X?

Considering the current benchmarks show the 290x no faster than titan (which isn't even a full gk110 gpu, and has heaps of clock headroom), I cant see how it won't be faster.

290x will be a stutter fest. Lets not kid ourselves.

When nvidia 8xx series comes out it will again be LOL AMD.

A hypothetical 880 could beat the 290X if it's a) built on a smaller process node than 28nm, or b) actually graphics-focused instead of compute-focused like Titan/780. Titan/780 are terribly wasteful as graphics cards.

With the next generation of GPUs moving to 20nm, it's guaranteed to be faster.

Not necessarily. There have been rumors of the 20nm node not being ready by the time the new cards release, which would mean a 28nm Maxwell.

Those are rebranded 7970s and 50s, hell.. you can crossfire them with the 7970s, etc.. same card.. different name

but that has nothing to do with a 290x

290X is a single GCN based GPU like the 280X and the 270X. Basic logic tells us that the 290X will be closer to the 280X/270X than the 7990 in terms of a "stutter fest" (which the 7990 isn't even anymore).

until the frame pacing fix applies to all resolutions in all games, the 7990 can still be called a stutter fest. It also needs to be in non-beta drivers for it to be truly fixed.

In all games eh? Guess every graphics card in existence is a stutter fest.

And there's literally no difference between beta and WHQL drivers besides a useless Microsoft certification.

290x has superior performance from the titan, and the titan is much faster than the 780

the titan and the 780 are the same card but one of them has 6GB of VRAM and the other 3GB

And one has less stream processors, but tends to boost higher because of it.
290x looks to be more or less AMD's Titan. The only benchmark that showed an advantage to 290x is known to be very AMD-favorable.
