Just play Ubisoft's Prince of Persia games, much more enjoyable gameplay and story overall compared to the Assassin's Creed series.

Prince of Persia games are great except for the 2008 one.

Terribly boring and impossible to die.

Not to mention possibly the dumbest protagonist in video game history.

If you enjoyed AC3 or found AC3 story boring then you may enjoy AC2.

AC2 is much better than AC3 (not that AC3 is bad in any way).

But AC as a series is story driven as much as it is gameplay driven. And the Ezio trilogy is the best story experience you will have from AC, especially since it also completes the storyline of Altair. Best of both worlds really

Ezio Trilogy is AC2, AC Brotherhood and AC Revelations.

I recommend getting all three. Or at the very least get AC2. Don't get brotherhood first, because it literally continues one minute after AC2's ending sequence, so it won't make sense to you.

The only complaint I had with AC3 was that there was very little focus on the Assassin's heritage, how the buck was passed down from Altair, to Ezio and eventually to Connor (which the previous games did very well to focus on). It made very little reference to the AC mythology so didn't feel like an AC game to me. But if you enjoyed that, you will love AC2, as from a story perspective it is truly amazing and it doesn't compromize on the gameplay at all.

Renaissance Italy is a LOT more interesting than revolutionary America IMO.

AC2 and Brotherhood have some of the most phenomenal platforming sections too. Climbing all the way to the top of a massive cathedral takes 10 minutes and is so fun. They stopped doing lots of these "tomb" levels in later entries.

Rev still had a few good "tombs". 3... I really can't think of anything similar in that game.
