Replace graphics card or buy a Vita

#1EvilSaiyan360Posted 10/10/2013 7:34:15 AM
Here is my situation. My nvidia geforce gtx 460 just died on me the other day and I am looking to replace it, but I also want a vita. And with the oled model being discontinued soon, I am considering getting the vita before the oled model is discontinued.

I can't play games with the graphics chip my computer came with ( ati radeon 4200). It is too slow to play games.

I am very interested in the ati radeon hd 7850

Should I buy the graphics card first, or get the vita first?

I can get one of them at the end of the month, then Ill be able to get the other in about 2 month afterwards.

Is there a reason you are looking at best buy? Their prices are horrible. Anyway, I would say go for GPU now then get a Vita on Black Friday since it's guaranteed there will be some excellent deals. Let's be honest, it's not exactly like OLED Vitas are going to suddenly disappear so you have plenty of time.

Only one question will answer that for you.

How important is mobility to your current situation?

A graphics card will net you the ability to play a much much larger library... at home.
A vita is a decent mobile device with fairly expensive games but can be taken anywhere really.

Would you rather play VITA games or PC games? Honestly, your answer is right there. You could still get a used oled vita for a good price a year down the road

I can't help you decide whether to buy a Vita or a video card first, but no matter what you end up doing, don't get your video card from Best Buy...

The price of the Vita memory cards is astronomical. Of course, Sony had to choose its own design and charge literally 5 times what the same size microSD card would cost...nice price gouging there, Sony.

Are you sure you want an OLED model? Do you know those things lose visual fidelity eventually, especially the blues?

Had I known that they were going to redesign the screen, I'd have waited for the new model.

Also, FYI, the new one has 1GB onboard memory, so you won't need a memory card unless you plan on downloading games.

Also, Chess is a game of skill much like all gameplay only video games. So it is pretty mindless if you think about it.-mtjormitch

there's like ten million vitas sitting on ebay now, there will be even more later. I'd get the card, as someone whose vita has been sitting on the floor doing nothing for months
