Even without talking about piracy

Either I see users comfortably mention emulators(ps2, wii, psp, snes, etc) and how they use them blah blah blah

Or people getting moderated for even talking about it because it's "against the tos"and in some cases mods claiming "it's not legal"

Aren't emulators perfectly legal? And isn't it legal to back up your games and play them on your PC? Because even in past threads when OP's have specified this, their topic still gets deleted.

The rule is, if your post is reported, the mod deletes it.

If it's an actual violation, you lose karma, if it wasn't a violation, then you don't lose karma.

Far as I know, emulation is legal everywhere.

The tricky part is getting the BIOS from a console you own, and the ROM from a game you own.

I believe it becomes illegal when you distribute copyrighted material. In other words, emulators are legal, but the copyrighted content people access with them isn't, at least until it becomes public domain (which I believe takes 75 years for anything, not 100% sure on that time.)

IMO, emulation = piracy.

I've said it before; you just don't buy a game to emulate. You download games to emulate. People say otherwise are lying their ass off.

Except, you know, for convenience and better resolutions.
But especially convenience.

Oh this. I don't have my PSX/PS2 hooked up anymore, and my DS and PSPs are broken.

(But I don't play video games I'm just proving a point).

If Disney has their say, it'll never happen again.

You can say it all you'd like. It's still wrong.
