What CPU do you have? Windows 8 has better core parking, which has been shown to benefit CPUs with hyperthreading



Btw, what driver did you use on Windows 8?
The latest driver for Vista is 13.4, so if you compared with 13.11 on Windows 8, that should explain the performance difference. The HD 7000 series are still getting performance improvements.
The performance difference would probably be smaller on the HD 6000 series

And yeah the outdated drivers could be the reasons for the difference in performance.

However, I did do the Valley test on Windows 8 before updating my drivers. This was when I first installed, the system was on the 12.11 Catalyst drivers and I got the same performance as the 13.11 drivers. So we can say that the Valley benchmark at least benefits from 8

I'm thinking of rolling back to 13.4 but that might be a hastle and I want to keep my fresh Windows 8 install as clean as possible.
