Why hasn't Mini Display Port / Micro HDMI taken over?

With modern video cards having such small vents, you would think those two Video Plug standards would've replaced all the old standards and use dongles for backwards compatibility?

If you replace all existing ports with either Mini Display port / Micro HDMI, you'd have huge vents on the cards with the top bracket being fully vented and the bottom bracket with the ports be partially vented.

This would help cooling on all graphics card.

Because the TV manufacturers still use full size ports, the Bluray players and cable boxes still use full size ports, etc. It's cheaper to use the same ports everyone else does and the cables probably cost less.

Once we perfect building Mechs, I expect there to be a factory in Mexico pumping out a brand call Mechsican. I wanna buy me a Mechsican.

Because they are a pain in the ****, I recently inherited a graphics card that only has micro HDMI and VGA and I was aiming to plug it in to my TV, I had to go out of my way to find a micro HDMI->HDMI converter, I discovered that in the local shops the HDMI->micro HDMI cables were an absolute fortune and the small converters were few and far between. The problem is everything else has standardised to HDMI, GPU's seem to be one of the few exceptions and that's not every GPU. The market has already made up its mind on this one.

I'm kind of surprised Display Port hasn't completely taken over by now, at least to the point where cards no longer need dual DVI, and instead have dual/triple/quad Display Port. I remember those Eyefinity HD5870s would come with 6 DPs.

Don't most TVs use Display Port already? Doesn't DP have more bandwidth than HDMI? Whenever 4K TVs drop in price I'm probably going to get one but I heard that HDMI can't do 60FPS at 4K resolution.

HDMI 2.0 can supports 4K officially

DisplayPort honestly is very nice, I was hoping Mini DisplayPort would rule over all video cards.

Remember those 6 Mini DisplayPort EyeFinity's those were awesome in concept

Honestly one video card can fit up to 8x Mini-DisplayPort plugs on 1 bracket and leave the second bracket as a large vent if they wanted to.

Takes time to phase in a new standard. It's only been like three years since manufacturers announced they'd start shifting that way
