RE6 worth it?

#11NobyNobyManPosted 10/12/2013 11:43:00 AM
A few weeks ago I spent a weekend on Doom 3 (Sikkmod) with my new pc and had the **** thoroughly scared out of me. It was so much fun (I looooved not having the flashlight at all times). I have Dead Space 1 and Amnesia: The Dark Descent but have yet to play either (planning to soon, maybe tonight or tomorrow). Scare factor wise, should I even consider any of these Resident Evils or should I stick with what I've got?

And if they're really as action-oriented as everyone claims, how do they compare against Lost Planet 1+2 or Dead Rising 2: Off the Record? I've never played either series but have always wanted to try them, and I've got 10 bucks or so to spare...

RE6 isn't even nearly as good as GoW or Uncharted. The problem isn't that it's not worth 10$. The problem is that it's not worth one's time. There are many better games out there.

Got it. Is it odd that I kind of want to play it just to see if it's truly bad?

Just from my Steam/Origin:

Tomb Raider
Dead Space 3
Assassin's Creed 3
Mass Effect 3
Darksiders 2
DmC
The Witcher 2
Dark Souls
Max Payne 3
Sleeping Dogs
Saint's Row 4
RE: Revelations
Chivalry

...and I see little reason to only count third person games.

it's the mass effect 3 "effect".

it can't possibly be as bad as people are claiming but in the end it turns out to be exactly that.

Touche', but the genre is actually very important when comparing games.

Personally, the only games in that list I enjoyed more than RE 6 are Tomb Raider, Mass Effect 3, Max Payne 3. and Sleeping Dogs and I played all of them aside from Chivalry and Saint's Row 4.

Still, you win.

Pay no attention to the ameriboos (PC is rife with them). RE6 is the worst main entry in the series, but it's still better than every western shooter combined. Well worth $10.

I actually liked 6 more than 5. At least 6 tries to be scary with Leon's campaign, unlike 5 where it's just action throughout. Jake and Chris' campaigns are definitely action-y though, and Leon's campaign is the best. I like the melee system in 6 loads more than 5 as well.

The melee system in RE 6 is the one thing I seriously hate and wish was excluded. It's way to easy to melee. At least in RE5, you had to shoot them in specific spots to initiate it.

I am also in the minority that enjoyed the tank controls and thought the RE 5 menu was as good as it gets for co-op/online play.
