new head set won't work

So I just bought a new logitech headset & it won't work. I plugged it in the computer but I get no sound when wearing them & I checked to see if it is not muted..

is there something else I need to do? this is my first time using one of these things

What headset is it?
Did it come with with a driver cd?

no cd

it is the logitech G230

not sure if there is anything else I need to do
I plugged the microphone & the earphone where they need to be & I get no sound

-Make sure the headphone cable (marked with green, and with an image of headphones on the jack) is firmly connected to the audio output jack of your source device.

-If you're connected to a computer, be sure you've properly configured your computer's sound output settings (see your computer's documentation for more information).

-Try plugging the headphone connector into a different device, like an MP3 player, or into a different computer.

-Try adjusting the volume or toggling the mute button on your headset, device, and application.

ok, I got it working
but I accidentally did something that made the sound coming from the hdmi not work
if I turn off the headphones I get no sound
I think i accidentally removed it or something
how do I get it back?

Right click speaker icon in taskbar>playback devices.
