And this is the main reason why we have so many bland characters like Gordon Freeman in FPS games because companies keep catering to people like this.

I guess it depends on the relative importance of the character. But if the character is supposed to be important (which is usually the case), then I do agree that a voiced character is probably going to be better most of the time. Because then it's actually, you know, a character. I barely even consider Gordon Freeman to be a character - his name, appearance, motivations, etc are all entirely incidental.

Anyway, I'm just happy that it's a Sci Fi game; I thought the 19th century setting of Amnesia was a lot less interesting than the modern setting of Penumbra, and Sci Fi lends itself to all sorts of creative stuff.

Agreed. Scifi horror is the best and this is looking very good so far this early in development. Can't wait to see the final product when it's done.
