Why does my computer keep freezing when playing RE5?

#1PhilBrooksTNFPosted 10/14/2013 5:19:55 PM
I'm playing with 4aa, everything else is the highest settings, 60 fps, etc. My specs: windows 7, intel core i7, 8gb ram, nvidia gtx 780m vram 4gb, resolution 2560x1440.

It runs perfect but a few minutes in, it freezes.

Sheva is missing the enemies so badly that she's shooting your processor.

Once we perfect building Mechs, I expect there to be a factory in Mexico pumping out a brand call Mechsican. I wanna buy me a Mechsican.

It's saving you the pain of playing that game. You should thank the glitch gremlin.

It should run perfectly right? Hell, I run Gears of WAr on PC at the highest settings too and I've played that longer and no problems at all.

and I beat RE5 multiple times on console. I like it.

Don't mind the mouthbreathers and shut-ins responding, they were never properly socialized as children. Yes, that laptop should certainly be more than capable of playing RE5 at those settings - it sounds like your CPU/GPU might be getting too hot. I would try buying one of those laptop cooling stations with the fans etc. and monitoring your system temperatures with something like SpeedFan. Does the system freeze with other games or just RE5? You could also trying running FurMark for 30+ mins at max settings - it will put %100 load on your GPU and can ferret out GPU heat problems. If you're able to run that for a while without artifacts or freezing, it's likely a driver/game issue. You could also try verifying your game files if it's the Steam version.

It's weird, I played like 5 minutes of BioShock 2 and it just closed on me. My computer was getting a little noisy from the fan or whatever though. I don't get it, I can run other games like Gears of War and Batman Arkham Asylum at full settings without any problems at all or it getting noisy or anything.
