Any good programs/add ons to download youtube videos?

#1razidPosted 10/15/2013 12:05:33 PM
I wanted to dl some video game and movie trailers and it seems like the best way to do it is through youtube. Are there any good programs or add ons that do this? I'd like it to keep the HD quality of the videos. I'm currently using chrome but I don't mind getting firefox as well if there's a particularly good ad on for it.

Thx guys

I use the clip converter extension for chrome, lets you download youtube as either a mp3 or mp4

it seems like every decent YT firefox plugin only allows downloads up to 720p which is annoying as ****.

i tried the clip converter extension which is admittedly the best solution but the download speed is abysmal compared to a direct download from youtube itself.

i still have jdownloader as a last resort but i don't want to turn it on everytime i come across a 1080P video i want to watch offline.

any suggestions on other plugins? don't even know why the hell it's like this to begin with.

I don't use programs like this but I checked google and found

Download Youtube Videos as MP4

which seems to add a download button and allow 1080p downloads.

DVDVideosoft, they have a YouTube downloader, or you could get the Free Studio, which has a ton of more stuff...

i tried this with a few 1080P videos and it still only allows up to 720P downloads.

just to be sure i crosschecked them with jdownloader and admittedly there's something incredibly fishy going on because the 1080P option doesn't show up the first time but only when i keep readding the link for parsing 2-3 times will it show up as an option.

maybe it's really not the various downloaders' fault but some dumb crap google has done with YT like everything else.

I just tried it myself and it worked but then I went to another video and it didn't... so I think you might be onto something there with something going on behind the scenes.
