Well, spilled water on my keyboard

3-4 days is rather excessive

also a hairdryer is a good option to speed up the process

Do you want to hear you handled the situation correctly? I am sorry, but you did not. Obviously somebody was going to point that out.

Obviously I know I didn't do something right, else I wouldn't have made this topic. I thought 3 hours would have been ample time, but as I just learned it was not. However, other posters gave similar answers to you without any condescending assumptions.

Whether or not the keyboard is done for good depends on how long ago it happened. If all of this was just a few hours ago, then you still might be able to dry it and it might work correctly afterwards. If this was a longer time ago, then the things you are seeing are unrelated to the circuitry still being wet or anything like that and it is likely permanent damage.

I'm hoping it's the former. I only had it connected for maybe a minute before disconnecting it again. It happened about 3 hours before I made this topic, about a half a glass along the bottom edge, most of it actually spilled on me.

In that case I would just give it some more time and maybe check again tomorrow. Let us know whether or not it works again. I am now quite curious. Fingers crossed I guess. Would be a shame. K90 is a pretty expensive keyboard.

Just tested it out. Seems to be working fine. They keys are doing what they should be and I haven't noticed any odd glitching out. Crisis seems to be averted.

Haha nice one. Congratulations. That is too nice of a keyboard to lose like this.

Dodged a bullet.

My old Razer Tarantula has had just about everything spilled in it aside from candle wax and chili. And I mean that. Coffee, milk, juice, water, beer, tea, soda, soup, et cetera. Multiple times for some of them. I treated that thing like crap.

I don't use it anymore, but it works as well as it ever has and I never unplugged it to clean it out. The thing was a miracle machine.

I'd expect this from slovenly, disheveled console peasants. That is disgusting.

I also do not like backlights. I find them useless for both gaming and typing. Mostly, it is just a constant distracting glow coming from the keyboard.
But this board loves its backlights.

I like backlights because it helps me locate the keyboard and align my hands with it via seeing it in my peripheral vision.

I guess you can't touch type? Find the home row with F-J.
That's the only reason the have a blacklit board; it's purely aesthetics.

K70 with cherry reds is the best board I've owned in my life. Very happy with it.

1. Spill water on electronics.
2. Unplug
3. Shake and or paper towel excess water off electronic.
4. Place item in container and cover in dry uncooked rice (for me I let sit for 3-4 days)
5. Take item out of rice, see if there appears to be any water, if so place back in rice.
6. When item appears dry, test it out.
7. Profit???

I once knocked over a glass of cranberry juice and vodka all over a midi recording controller (lots of electronics inside).

I may have been really buzzed but I recovered it by:

Immediately unplugging all the cords and flipped it upside down, shaking it violently to get all the liquid out. I then laid it on the floor, still upside and raced to my utility room, bringing back wet paper towels and a can of dust off. I wiped the board down, still upside down as best I could, really trying to get all the residue diluted in those nooks and crannies and then I shook it out again and sprayed the hell out of it with the dust of can to dry it quickly.

I was in the middle of a serious jam session so turned it on immediately after it was like it never happened. lol
