#1este914Posted 10/16/2013 7:08:36 AM
In honor of its final release coming on October 18th.

Do you currently have Windows 8?
Do you enjoy using it, and more specifically enjoy PC gaming on it?
Have you tried the preview of Windows 8.1 yet?
Will you be upgrading your Windows 8 PC to 8.1 once its released on the 18th?

:)

Got Windows 8 like 5 days ago.

PC Gaming is so much better on this OS. Have'nt tried 8.1 though. If its confirmed that there are no compatibilty issues with drivers, then ill upgrade

Yes, yes, no, no.

However, I got my 8.1 install disc early for free through DreamSpark, but I'm not planning to reinstall Windows until I get a SSD.

Does it offer a clean install/format when you upgrade from 8 to 8.1? My mobo manufacturer released a whole new set of drivers for 8.1 and I'd rather format.

Yeah, AFAIK it does. It will work similar to the old installation format, where you can do it cleanly and reformat completely, or keep existing files and update on top of Windows 8 that's already there.

Wait, will I have to wipe the hard drive to reinstall it or will it just automatically upgrade to it via Windows Update?

If you are currently running Windows 8, it will be an available update via the Windows Store. You will not be forced to wipe the hard drive at all.
