Forgive me if it's been posted but reading 100 plus messages takes more time than just asking, so when the 8.1 goes live tomorrow will it be like the service pack updates? Just go to updates and select it and viola?

It's been live since 4am PDT on the app store. Go get it. :-)

Alright went to the store and updated from 8 to 8.1
Everything looks good, the 'start' button glows now (kinda weird)
everything is running fine, except I think I have to break my bluetooth driver again to get my dualshock 3 to work.

The only problem I see is some of the apps are buggy now. Those being:
Skype
Settings
Mail
basically all of the Win 8 Microsoft apps.

They worked fine before I disconnected my live account from the PC. (both after win 8.1 update)
edit: it seems a live account is forced for a lot of apps now

What does it mean if the PS Button glows blue?

Thanks, didn't see it in the app store but apparently I had an update installed that required a restart so once I restarted, viola.. downloading now..

How do you get rid of the colored backgrounds on tiles for third party programs?

Or at least change the color so they're uniform?

haven't noticed that specifically... but even after I did the 8.1 update, I went into windows update section and it has about 20 more to install. some I saw said it was specific for 8.1 soo....yea

If you have the regular windows 8, is that 3.62gb update file just to update windows or is it a full ISO image? I'm asking because I'd like to burn a windows 8.1 install disc just in case windows ever gets corrupted. I wouldn't want to have to install the regular windows 8 then have to install the 8.1 update too.

You can't. You're stuck with it. I did read that you can go into each program and change the color via editing some files, but that's too much of a hassle in my opinion.

I had my entire Start menu arranged just like I wanted, and 8.1 went in and changed all the colors and the layout. It also uninstalled some pretty important programs like Avast and it made a Logitech device I use all the time completely non-functional.

I rolled back to 8.0. It's not worth it in my opinion, for the few cosmetic upgrades, to have so much get wrecked. My Start screen looked like clown vomit.

Microsoft. One tiny step forward, ten giant steps backward.

Apparently on my Dell laptop if I update it'll break my AMD drivers, by autoinstalling the newer Intel drivers which break them. :/ Ugggh. Dell will never fix this.

Can I avoid 8.1?.....
