I'm still not able to see the update in the Windows Store.

My question is, should I perform a clean install of Windows 8 and see if that fixes the problem?

I really don't want to rework my entire OS again, though.

Please someone answer.

did you get it resolved yet? :)

Nope.

It's possible the only way I'm getting 8.1 is if I do a fresh install of Windows 8, and I don't think it's worth it to loose all of my data. (gotta customize settings on the new OS and metro start screen).

Try rebooting and then going to the store. If its still not there go back to the desktop, open task manager and manually killing the store process.

For some reason after I restored from a backup I could only see the preview, the above fixed it for me.

Also, I heard that incorrect region settings can cause problems as well.

BTW, make sure to have a full backup before doing this as some people (including me) have had issues with it, Im still frustrated that you cant do a clean install from dvd/usb directly using a w8 key.

Pro.

I did an "upgrade" to a regular activated Windows 8 Pro and I still didn't see the update in the store. I didn't see the update from a KMS activated install and a regular activated install.

No idea what's going on tbh.

Are you logged in with a Microsoft account, or just a local account?

Since I installed 8.1 I've found that compared to 8, my boot times are longer, logging in to my MS account takes longer, and I've actually had the OS lock up to the point of having to reboot my system, something that never happened with Windows 8. Most of the changes are mostly pointless for me but there are some nice things.

That's odd, its been almost the exact opposite for me, I think things are much snappier now.

ohh hey look it also decided that when it re-did all of my installed programs it would install them on my SSD instead of the 3tb drive where I had them. Genius.

Never heard of that happening before...
