Is it possible to use my phone as Wifi-repeater?

#1perijahPosted 10/16/2013 7:28:46 AM
Hello,

So what I have in mind is an app that connects to wifi and uses that wifi to be a hotspot on it's own.

I'm interested in it because atm my phone is the best wifi receiver in my room. Not surprising if you look at the price of that thing.

Are there any apps?

Thanks

Yes, check Android store.

Hey,

I checked the store, but didn't find anything relevant. Most hits are about wifi boosters.

I was hoping you guys could give me the name of an app.

Yes there is, but that's not what I'm looking for.

If I use my phone as a standalone hotspot it's 'source' is the 3G network. Since the data-volume on that is very limited I don't want to use that.

Instead it would be better if my phone recieves the internet from wifi, so that becomes its 'source' and uses that to be a hotspot.

Thanks anyway.

Other sugestions?

You can connect your phone to Wi-Fi and then plug your USB cable into your pc and use USB tethering.

Thanks!

I'll use that instead.

I expect that is your only option, to wirelessly act as a repeater it would need two wi-fi aerials. One to connect to the wi-fi and another to output the wi-fi for other things to connect to.

Obviously if you're plugged in via USB that's not necessary.
