At least they bothered to automatically restore your OS, where any Linux distro would have left you high and dry.

The codes returned exactly zero results on Google, Microsoft's site, and Usenet. Had to abuse my corporate contracts and drag an engineer out of the closet to be told that I should attempt the update with only the Windows drive connected.

As for the Linux comment, it's dumb on so very many levels. Linux distros don't tend to crap all over themselves with updates and are used to interesting drive configurations. Linux distros also don't tend to force the admin to rely on some bobblehead's automatic config program. And when things break, there are logs with more info than you need.
