anybody update from 7 to 8 to 8.1 on the same install?

i can't get 8.1 to install. i get a bsod and error code.

trying to see if that has something to do with it as others are theorizing the same.

i had windows 7 and qualified for the $30 windows 8 upgrade last year, did that, and now can't update to 8.1.

Is your Windows 8 installation completely up to date?

And have you tried safe mode?

You have your valid Win 8 key? Then just do a clean install of 8.1 and you should be fine.

Sounds like a poorly coded driver that can't deal with 8.1. Use this for a clean install:

a new install isn't an option
nobody has time for all that
this shouldn't be so difficult

eh maybe it is an option
i'm obsessed now

but i can't download 8.1 because it says my serial key is wrong
i can download 8 though

so...i guess since i'll be on a fresh install of 8 with no drivers, i should then upgrade to 8.1?

Yeah. I upgraded from 7 to 8 earlier and then upgraded to 8.1. They should've made it easier for Windows 7 users, tbh. Install both at once or whatever.
