All Gog.com games are coming to Steam. What's going on?

Because it has literally nothing to do with either GOG or Valve because the games are owned by publishers and they decide what stores to put their games in?

What kind of derpy topic is this

No, actually Gog.com does actively go after publishers that own old PC games to bring them to the site. Most old games are optimized for modern PCs by GOG, not the publishers. So the versions appearing on Steam are not the versions on GOG.

....yes, they are. SS2, IHNMAIMS, the Duke Nukems, pretty much (or all?) games that came out same time/after on Steam are literally the exact same version.

Do you think GOG phones them up, says hey lets release your game, the publisher says ok, GOG does all this work, and then out of nowhere the publisher decides to do their own separate work later and release it on Steam, even though they had years they could have just thrown out the old version?

I loled

Sorry to be so frank, but you are speaking out of your @ss. Gog.com reps and publishers talked about this publicly in the past. The old games, the ones that need DOSBOX or some sort of work to make it run on modern PCs, have been worked on by Gog. So, if they are coming to Steam, it's guaranteed not the same version.

Part of the deal to get these licenses could be that the publisher now has rights to the updated and working GOG version and can do whatever they wish with it.

You're cute. How are they not the same when they run the same, use the same DOS emulator (for the DOS ones), have all the same files, Steam version has no actual Steam features (and is DRM free)? So it's just a coincidence that a game that hasn't been on Steam for X amount of years, suddenly shows up at the same time as the "new improved modern GOG version", and is exactly the same? At this happens dozens of times? From different publishers?

You sound rather derpy.

No but really, are these the GOG versions or just the originals being put up on Steam?

Old games on Steam is simply a waste of time. Why inconvenient yourself with an additional layer of DRM, when GOG offers more, including free soundtracks, wallpapers, and actually making sure the games actually work with modern systems?
