What're your favorite scary games?

I've been playing FEAR lately, since it was $10 for the trilogy last weekend, and the first game is a great shooter, tons of fun, and one of the few games that really got me scared. Not so much the base game as its first expansion, Extraction Point. EP also happened to have the best setup gunfights, in my opinion, even if I do prefer the new guns introduced in Perseus Mandate.

So, yeah, FEAR and its expansions. Fear 2 isn't quite as scary, but I think that Monolith just isn't as good as the scary part as Tomegate, even if they do have the better budget for worldbuilding.

And before people scoff at this whole thing and tell me to try real horror games, I tried playing Amnesia, in the dark, with my earbuds in. I wasn't scared, I ended up with sore shoulders from anticipating scares. I think part of the reason FEAR gets me is that Alma is always there and she could crush you like a fly if she really wanted to.

Once we perfect building Mechs, I expect there to be a factory in Mexico pumping out a brand call Mechsican. I wanna buy me a Mechsican.

Silent Hill 2.

I never liked Games Like FEAR and Dead Space because they always seemed to rely to heavily on Jumpscares... (Much like Modern Horror Movies not made by James Wan.)

Amnesia was alright i guess, Didn't like the story and was never really all that uncomfortable to me.

Outlast has some good jump scares, and the imagery in that game is disturbing.

Every time one of these threads get made, the top 3 choices are always: Amnesia, Outlast and Dead Space.

It gets so predictable.

And every time I wonder why Dead Space is even on that list. It obviously comes down to personal opinion, but to me any game that allows you to shoot back with guns isn't scary at all.

Fatal Frame. It's the one and only game that I was too uncomfortable to play.

I watched my friend play through it on the Xbox. I tried playing Fatal Frame 2 alone, but couldn't handle it.
