Nvidia copying ATI again, using 2/3rds of their acronym.

We know nothing yet though so while we're at it I'll just go ahead and announce the 880.
Sorry Nvidia, too slow.

I wasn't aware there was enough of a performance gap between the 780 and the Titan to fit another card in there.

The ti will be useless, overclock a 780 slightly to get the same effect.

It will probably cost $800 to slot it in between the 780 and the titan.

Why are you assuming it needs to be weaker than a titan?

The article said it was
and it's just one step below the company's super high-end GPU, the Titan

Then the article is full of it and making assumptions. NOTHING has been revealed about it by nvidia.

Oh, so it could just be a cheaper, re-branded titan, in preparation for a new titan.

If it's better than the Titan it's not going to be cheaper. Especially since Jensen said it's the "best ever built", meaning cost of production is probably higher than anything before it; you don't make a superior product at a cheaper cost unless something radically changed in your production process.
