weird PSU hissing noise while gaming

#1ElJeffayPosted 10/19/2013 8:13:08 PM
Whenever in games, the PSU starts making noises. It just started doing this last week and I have no idea why. It's a CX 600. I made sure it was the PSU and not the GPU, and it definitely is the PSU. The performance is still great and other than this there is no issue that I am aware of. Have any of you had this issue? Know of any suggestions? Thanks a bunch

It's just the sound of the hardware being stressed.

My GPU does the same thing when I run 3dmark.

I have no idea what causes it but I believe it's similar to your issue. I'm sure it's the PSU and not the GPU though. That being said, some games make more noises than others, but this hadn't happened for over a year and just started happening.

your caps be screamin, man. your caps be screamin.

either that or you got a fan with a crap bearing.

edit:

Yeah... most likely capacitors.
That's what I was thinking in my first post.
